Longtime arts educator offers engaging infant/youth music and drama classes

Creative Seeds Studio (CSS), a new resource offering engaging online music and drama classes for families with children ages 0 to 8, launches on May 3.  CSS is founded by Plymouth resident and longtime professional music educator Su D’Ambrosio.  Free demo classes are offered on April 27 and May 1, register to participate at Creative Seeds Studio Schedule.

In Creative Seeds Studio’s playful classes, young children explore and learn about music through singing, movement, rhythm play, stories and theatrical play. Each theme-focused session introduces music literacy and pre-reading skills by exploring rhyming, patterning and selected picture books. Drama classes focus on spatial awareness, vocal expression and character development through fun games and imaginative play, and culminate with an online presentation of a story, complete with costumes and props from home.  In family classes, the vital role of parents and families is recognized in cultivating their children’s “creative seeds.”  Parents and caregivers are given tools and tips to utilize the creative process at home to integrate into their daily lives.

Historic Deertrees Theatre, “Maine’s Most Enchanting Playhouse”, announces its 85th anniversary summer concert season.  The quintessential performing arts venue, providing entertainment to the Greater Maine region since 1936, presents diverse music offerings for the summer of 2021.  The season also boasts its hallmark theatre series in its broadly scheduled summer, from June through early September, detailed at deertrees-theatre.org.

Mark William – Come Croon with me!

Sunday, July 11, 7:30 pm, tickets are $32

Mark William hits the stage like a lightning bolt! His own unique, youthful spin on golden age crooner styling delivers in a collection of timeless songs from Broadway and The Great American Songbook. With his glossy approach, Mark glides from Jerry Herman to Peter Allen to Henry Mancini with charismatic ease and a spring in his step. He hypnotizes with a set of enduring classics, filtered through Mark’s youthful perspective and talent set. The show is distinctly new-age romantic, yet evocative of golden-age cinematic glamour. Mark is the winner of two Broadway World awards (Best Debut Act, and Best Independent Recording), and was named a top ten cabaret act of 2018 by both Theater Pizzazz and Times Square Chronicles.

Deertrees Theatre is committed to keeping its staff, performing artists and audience safe for in-person events and performances, adhering to official Maine venue guidelines, including staff Covid-19 training and compliance, sanitization, distancing, traffic flow, mask and reduced capacity protocols.  All staff, performing artists and crew will be fully vaccinated prior to performances.  For complete details on Deertrees’ safety guidelines, visit Deertrees Theatre Safety Guidelines.

About Deertrees Theatre

Founded in 1936 as an opera house, Deertrees Theatre was built on the site of an old deer run in the forest above the village of Harrison, Maine. Constructed of rose hemlock in the Adirondack style with hand carved fixtures and near perfect acoustics, the theatre has long been home to Broadway-quality entertainment.

Now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the non-profit Deertrees Theatre presents an eclectic offering of theatrical productions and comedies, family entertainment, and a variety of musical concerts during the quintessential summer theater season annually from late June through early September.  As a most active performing arts venue of the Northeast, Deertrees is home to the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival on Tuesday evenings in July, The Backstage Art Gallery featuring the works of local artists, and The Salt Lick Café, offering cabaret acts, small bites, beer and wine.

Deertrees Theatre is located at 156 Deertrees Road, Harrison, Maine.  For more information, visit deertrees-theatre.org, email deertrees@deertrees.org, or follow Deertrees Theatre on Facebook.
