Chamber Music Festival Features 12 Concerts

THE ENTERPRISE – The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival’s 40th anniversary season kicks off August 1. Twelve concerts are slated for venues across the Cape from August 1 through 23. The season is organized by Artistic Directors Jon Nakamatsu and Jon Manasse, and Executive Director Elaine Lipton.

Among the highlights is a concert celebrating the 100th birthday of composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein, with special guest appearance by his daughter, Jamie Bernstein, on August 16 at First Congregational Church in Wellfleet.

Musical works by Bernstein and Aaron Copland are featured in the performance, including the epic “Appalachian Spring” using its original scoring for 13 instruments.

The festival lineup includes Purely Romantic an evening of Rachmaninoff, Parker, and Dvorak, on August 1 at Falmouth Academy’s Simon Center for the Arts and on August 2 at First Congregational church in Wellfleet; a program by the Jupiter String Quartet on August 5 and 6 at First Congregational church in Chatham and the Cotuit Center for the Arts, The Emerson and Barber’s Adagio performing Barber, Haydn and Dvorak August 7 at First Congregational Church in Wellfleet; Mostly Mostly Mozart … and Brahms August 12 and 13 at Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans and Cotuit Center for the Arts; Borromeo, Manasse and Icarus on August 14 at Dennis Union Church; Leonard Bernstein at 100 on August 16 at First Congregational church in Wellfleet; and three concerts by the Miró Residency: The Miro Quartet on August 20 at Cotuit Center for the Arts, Romanic Strings on August 21 at Dennis Union Church, and Riches to Rags August 23 at First Congregational church in Wellfleet.

Ticket orders are $40 general admission; $15 for college students (with ID); and free for attendees 18 and under. General admission to three or more concerts is $38 per ticket. Emerson String Quartet concert: is $57 ($55 when purchased as part of the three-concert package).
