DMF presents two weeks of extraordinary music performances

McGRATHPR.com – South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Duxbury Music Festival (DMF), which runs from Sunday, July 14 through Friday, July 26, presents its 14th season of exceptional faculty and student performances, as well as family-friendly events. The festival venues include SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts (ECA), private homes and the iconic DMF tent on the Millennium Town Green. 

In addition to multiple opportunities to enjoy the very finest chamber music in New England, performed by world-class musicians, DMF 2019 performances include a variety of music including jazz, 80’s, Americana, and other family-friendly concerts. The festival begins Sunday, July 14 with a pre-concert al fresco reception before the Overture Concert at the Ellison Center for the Arts.  The Overture Concert is sponsored by Wendy and Vince Spiziri.

Another highlight this season is the return of founding DMF faculty member and famed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, an instructor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, who will be celebrating her 80th birthday.  Audience members can look forward to hearing her perform solo and chamber repertoire on Sunday, July 14 and chamber repertoire on Monday, July 22 in a private Duxbury home.

DMF Tent Event weekend takes place Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21, and is sure to please all music lovers.  The DMF Tent is sponsored by Sheila and Richard Morse.  This year’s events include the 80’s on the Green with The Waves concert on Friday, July 19. This family-friendly concert features Duxbury residents Paul Casale, Ryan Stadelmann and Dan Joyce. Former Duxbury residents Mike Najarian and Eric Guy, as well as Rick Welch of Hanson, are performing with the band.  They will be performing hits primarily from the 80’s. Tickets are $20 adults and $5 for children under 18.  Mollie Baldwin Foley is generously sponsoring this concert.

On Saturday morning, July 20, Family Fest, sponsored by Brothers Marketplace, enchants the youngest music fans and their families with a musical event filled with familiar SSC ImagineARTS Band songs, interactive activities, lunch and more. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

DMF is excited about its new Saturday night tent event- Americana on the Green!  The July 20event includes a night with drinks, dancing and rock n’ roll with SSC faculty member Ed Sorrentino and his band. This new adult-only event will help raise funds for tuition assistance.  There will be a silent auction with items that include an Island Creek Oyster (ICO) Farm Tour.  Brothers Marketplace showcases specialty foods, and ICO is provides a raw bar. Tickets are $65 per person, which include a drink ticket.  Caitlin and Darren Humphreys, and Kathy and Warren Skillman co-sponsor the event.

Sunday in the Park, on July 21, featuring DMF faculty and students in recital, wraps up DMF Tent Event weekend.  Concert goers are invited to bring their picnic basket, enjoy wine concessions, and listen to world-class chamber music.  Sunday in the Park is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Morgan and Greg Lamarche in loving memory of Barbara Lamarche.

On July 24, the DMF Winners Concert will be held at the Ellison Center for the Arts, with a wine tasting.  All That Jazz and DMF Farewell Reception sponsored by Lynn Dale and Frank Wisneski, are on Friday, July 26, featuring jazz pianist Elan Mehler. This is a wonderful evening celebrating the next generation of great musicians, our talented DMF students!
