McGRATHPR.com – Powerful actors from across Eastern Massachusetts appear in The Company Theatre’s production of Green Day’s American Idiot, playing February 8 through 17.

A critical smash on Broadway and in London, two-time Tony Award® winning hit Green Day’s American Idiot is based on the Grammy Award® winning multi-platinum alternative album. This high-octane rock opera-style musical features many of Green Day’s original songs, many of which have rocketed the band to climb national music charts.

American Idiot captures the essence of lifelong friendship, while choosing between lofty dreams and the safety of suburbia.  The cast’s struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world rings true to the tumultuous happenings in our society today. Disgruntled friends flee the constraints of their hometowns for the thrills of city life, becoming swiftly estranged when one joins the armed forces. This energy-fueled rock opera features little dialogue, relying on Green Day’s groundbreaking lyrics to execute its story.  Note: contains strong language and drug references
