McGRATHPR.com – South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces its lineup of spectacular Coffee Break Concert Series (CBCS) faculty performances for the 2018/2019 season, starting with Flute Banquet on Tuesday, October 30, 11 am at SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts location at 64 St. George Street, Duxbury.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Casual in nature with an intimate atmosphere, these free performances include complimentary coffee and light snacks to enjoy during the concert. Sponsored by The Village at Duxbury, Coffee Break concerts are often standing room only. Audience members are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 am or to contact Beth MacLeod Largent at 781-421-6162, ext. 204 or b.macleodlargent@sscmusic.org to guarantee a seat. Performances are approximately one hour in length without intermission.  After the performance, audience members are invited to stay and meet the performers.

Flute Banquet highlights the sweeping suffusions of color brought to life by the flute.  Audience members can expect to enjoy Broadway favorites, Gershwin hits, and fun folk tunes. Featured musicians are Donald Zook on flute, and Sarah Troxler on piano.

On November 27, Another Blue Tuesday features blues powerhouses Anthony Geraci on piano, Chris Rathbun on bass, and Ed Sorrentino on drums. Geraci discusses the essence of blues, the genre’s roots, and his travels with Grammy award-winning Sugar Ray and The Bluetones. This concert’s chamber music small hall setting augments the electricity of these musicians’ on-the-spot improvisation, tight harmonies, and virtuosic playing.

South Shore Conservatory’s Emily Browder Melville, voice, Sarah Troxler, piano, and Jesse Stiglich, drums, bring the cinematic holiday soundscape audiences with Holiday Music from the Movies on December 11. This dynamic collaboration includes favorites such as Baby, It’s Cold Outside, White Christmas, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

In 2019, CBCS presents Love Songs of the Ages are the focus on February 26, with vocalist Bengisu Onal. On March 26, Percussion department Chair Jesse Stiglich and his faculty members come together for Spotlight on Percussion.  The series concludes with Solo Piano Classics with Mark Goodman on April 30 featuring, among others, the music of Johannes Brahms.

South Shore Conservatory is committed to being an organization that welcomes the widest range of audience members possible – removing barriers to participation and welcoming everyone in, regardless of ability.  Both its Hingham and Duxbury campuses are wheelchair accessible.  For more detailed information about accessibility, please visit SSC’s Know Before You Go page.
