WICKEDLOCAL.com – Holbrook’s Michael Hammond will star in the leading role of “Tateh” in the Company Theatre’s 40th anniversary season launch production of, “Ragtime the Musical,” playing from July 27 through Aug. 19.
He will perform with his lifetime best friend Paula Markowicz, another Holbrook native, who will portray Mother in the production.
Friends since grade school, Hammond first enjoyed the opportunity to perform with Markowicz at Holbrook High School when she appeared in the title role in, “Gypsy,” and he in the role of Tulsa.
“There is nothing more special for me than stepping onto a stage knowing that your best friend is going to be right there with you,” Hammond said. “It feels like the planets have aligned because we completely trust each other and no matter what happens, we will be having the time of our lives. I fully expect that the audience will see that shine through in each of our performances.”
This musical is host to a cast of 40 actors, invluding Peter Adams, who revives his role as Father from the Ragtime National Tour. Set pieces from the original Broadway national tour will appear by special arrangement in this production.
Boston actor Davron Monroe, fresh off of his appearance in, “The Wiz,” will portray the role of Coalhouse Walker Jr. Prior tech director and current building supervisor Bob Grazioso created an exact authentic replica Ford Model T to be featured on stage.
Performances will run from July 27 through Aug. 19, at the Company Theatre Center for Performing Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. Tickets range from $41 to $43. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday, with Saturday matinee performances at 4 p.m. and Sunday matinee performances at 3 p.m..
