
Three days of festive and musical events for the entire family!
McGRATHPR.com – Under a majestic tent on Duxbury Town Green, at the corner of Washington Street and Harden Hill Road, South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) presents DMF Tent Events Weekend from July 20 through 22. With a total of four special and unique events, the weekend promises something to delight all ages and musical tastes. South Shore Conservatory (SSC) thanks Sheila and Richard Morse for sponsoring the tent for the weekend.
On Friday, July 20 at 7 pm, the weekend kicks off with Beatles on the Green. The public is invited to enjoy a journey into the genius of the Fab Four as SSC faculty performers explore The Beatles in a “Magical [Musical] Tour.” SSC student rock band Toast is the opening act. Beatles on the Green is sponsored by GAGNONtax.

Children and adults are invited to enjoy SSC’s ImagineARTS Band, as they perform songs from SSC’s early childhood arts and literacy program, at DMF’s Family Fest on Saturday, July 21 at 10:30 am. SSC’s ImagineARTS program provides arts-based reading readiness free for kindergarteners in the Brockton Public Schools. Following the performance, attendees may participate in voice, percussion, movement, and theater activities led SSC faculty, arts and crafts activities, and enjoy free hot dogs and ice cream. Family Fest is sponsored by The Foundation for Creative Achievement.

DMF presents Rhythm and Blues on the Green dinner dance, featuring East Coast Soul, a popular Boston band, on Saturday, July 21 at 6:30 pm. With male and female vocals, sax and rhythm section, East Coast Soul covers a great mix of music spanning Motown, Funk, Soul and R&B, all the way to some of today’s current hits. The evening includes an Island Creek Oysters raw bar, buffet dinner and dancing, with full cash bar and specialty welcome cocktail. This year’s theme is Mod 60’s theme, themed in black and white. Proceeds benefit student scholarships. Rhythm and Blues on the Green is sponsored by Mollie Baldwin Foley.

Sunday in the Park on Sunday, July 22 from 5 to 7 pm, is like Duxbury’s own Tanglewood. This free concert provides a unique opportunity to gather friends and family and enjoy world-class chamber music performed by DMF faculty and students in a relaxed, outdoor setting. Seating is provided under the tent, or the public may bring lawn chairs and a blanket to spread out on the Town Green. Food and wine are available for purchase, or concertgoers may bring their favorite picnic fare. Sunday in the Park is sponsored by Hilary and Richard Lucier, and Kathy and Warren Skillman,
Widely embraced by the South Shore community with over 200 volunteers and over 2500 patrons each season, Duxbury Music Festival’s celebrated, intensive chamber music program brings together world-renowned pedagogues and performers with aspiring young artists each summer, providing daily offerings of chamber music, student recitals, festival competitions, family events and faculty concerts.
