THE ENTERPRISE – The Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra will present its debut performance on Sunday, April 15, at 3 PM at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwichport. In celebration of National Poetry Month, the CCCO has collaborated with the Cape Cod Writers Center to create an afternoon of poetry-inspired music led by conductor Matthew Scinto.
Cape poet Judith Askew’s “Here at the Edge of the Sea” will be set to music by noted Boston composer-conductor Francis Snyder, and poetry authored by students at Monomoy Regional High School will be displayed in the church sanctuary.
Adding to more poetry-inspired works, CCCO’s inaugural program will feature a diverse selection of compositions by Debussy, Elgar and Grieg. Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Zaray Rodriguez will perform Gustav Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer.”
Tickets can be purchased online at capecodchamberorchestra.org, by calling 508-432-1668 or at the door with cash or credit card. Tickets are $25 general admission if purchased in advance before April 15, $30 at the door, $15 for students (ages 12 to 18 years old and college students). Children younger than 12 are admitted free.
