McGRATHPR.com – Americana Theatre Company’s (ATC) Studio Americana youth performing arts classes are now open for Spring 2018 registration.  Classes begin on Monday, April 2, and continue through the end of May, held at Spire Center for Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth.

Aspiring kid actors can register for the popular Mini-Starz class. This class gives elementary students an opportunity to discover the magic of the stage, learn stage presence, confidence, and basic vocal technique as they rehearse and perform a show!  Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.  This season, the class culminates in a performance of the play The Sword and the Stone.

Other opportunities include Page to Stage, which teaches students ages 7 to 11 the mechanics of theatre from start to finish as they write, direct and perform and original story.  Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.  Let’s Make a Musical walks middle and high school students through the process of writing, directing, and performing a musical, meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

New offerings this spring include Acting for middle and high school students, where students learn how to engage their imagination and deliver a truthful performance through exercise, preparation and scene-work.  The program is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  Auditioning, a class for all ages, assists students in the process of theatre auditions, walking through potential scenarios at every level.  Students select and prepare audition materials from two contrasting monologues, receive coaching on a musical audition selection and create a resume of their theater experience.  The class is held on Fridays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

Students from the Page to Stage and Let’s Make a Musical programs perform in a cabaret style Spring Showcase, date to be announced.

Studio Americana’s mission is to develop talent, inspire creativity, and prepare students to activate their dreams. They offer premiere training in theatre and musical theatre for students at affordable rates.
