Hingham Piano Student Awarded Prize in Steinway Piano Competition

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) congratulates their student, Karen Ji of Hingham, for placing third in the Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition on Saturday, June 24.  As a winner, Karen received a cash prize and an opportunity to perform in a winner’s concert at M. Steinert & Sons Piano Gallery in Boston on Sunday, June 25.

Karen is a student of SSC piano instructor HuiMin Wang. In addition to taking private lessons at the Conservatory, Karen has garnered numerous musical accomplishments. She won the 2014 and 2016 SSC Concerto Competitions. As the winner of these competitions, Karen performed her winning concerti with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra at Plymouth’s illustrious Memorial Hall. Additionally, she won the Talented Young Musicians Association’s Russian Music Competition in 2013, which qualified her to perform, along with other top placers, at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

A senior at Hingham High School (HHS), Karen is the former accompanist for SSC’s Community Voices chorus in Duxbury. At HHS, she is a member of the cross country and tennis teams.
