The Company Theatre’s Regional Premiere of Sister Act the Musical to Open

The award-winning Company Theatre regional premiere of the smash hit comedy Sister Act the Musical opens this Friday.  Performances are held from March 17 through April 9, at The Company Theatre Centre for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell.  Sister Act the Musical music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture Sister Act, written by Joseph Howard.   The production is directed by Zoe Bradford and Jordie Saucerman, choreographed by Sally Forrest, with music direction by Steve Bass.

Sister Act the Musicalfeatures the music of 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken, (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Newsies).  Delores Van Cartier, a ‘wanna be’ Las Vegas diva’s life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime and the cops hide her in – where else – a convent! Under the suspicious and watchful eye of Mother Superior, Delores wins the sisters’ hearts, and helps them find their voices as she unexpectedly discovers her own. A tribute to the universal power of friendship, Sister Act the Musical is reason to rejoice!

Sister Act the Musical is adorned with The Company Theatre’s trademark authentic sets and costumes, gifted cast, accompanied by a professional orchestra.   Featured in the captivating cast are regional favorites including Evette Caldwell (Deloris Van Cartier) a revered Gospel singer and actor who most recently portrayed “Motormouth” in Norwood Theatre’s award-winning production ofHairspray, and Stacey Geer (Mother Superior), an actor applauded widely on stages throughout the Rhode Island region.
