Art on the Point Benefit Supports Magical Moon Foundation

Save-the-date-for-web-jpgThe Magical Moon Foundation (MMF), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families and children living with cancer, will be supported by a fundraising benefit Art on the Point, a once in a Magical Moon event, on Saturday, April 23, from 5 to 8 pm, at the historic estate at 326 Powder Point Avenue, Duxbury.  The evening features live music, elegant fare, and a stunning collection of original artwork from more than 25 award-winning local artists.  All proceeds support Magical Moon’s mission and programs.

A one-night gallery event, Art on the Point features room after room of stunning artwork created by more than 25 local fine artists at a picturesque Powder Point estate.  Duxbury Art Association brings a roster of artists displaying new works at the event. An evening of cultural ambiance is enhanced by live music by Bill Driver, Bossa Nova Guitar and DJ Doug Miller.  Delectable appetizers abound by The Chef’s Table, topped off by Island Creek Oysters.  Step out to the sculpture deck where you’ll discover a sculpture collection by artist Gints Grinberg on view al fresco, adorned by an oyster bar and wine selections from Cormons of Italy. Guests are invited to park at the Powder Point Bridge parking lot and enjoy a complimentary shuttle in style to the estate in one of several luxury sedans provided by Mercedes of Hanover.

Magical Moon Foundation is an award-winning charity founded in 2000 by renowned artist Donna Green, with a mission to nurture and empower children from across the East Coast with cancer and other life threatening conditions.  With the help of MMF, youth are encouraged to find the warrior within, empowered by inner strength to become brave young knights, turning their struggles into motivation to manifest miracles in their lives.  Each child becomes part of a fellowship of Rainbow Warriors with a united mission to change the world in honor of their cancer. They’re “knighted” in a circle of knights and forge unbreakable bonds with other children in the same battle. Throughout their journey the children grow stronger and more centered, building lasting legacies through their courage and resilience.

Located on a 5-acre sprawling farm in Marshfield, the Foundation is blanketed in beautiful organic gardens, orchards, bee hives, a greenhouse and farm stand supported by many local volunteers and patrons.  MMF hopes to renovate a 4-story barn on the property into a healthy living and therapy space facility.  The Foundation has attracted a broad support system including celebrity attention from renowned recording artist Steven Tyler, a board member.

Art on the Point is generously sponsored by Island Creek Oysters, Prime Mercedes, AVD Designs, Shoreline Aviation, Snug Harbor Wine, World Wide Wine of New England, Macdonald & Wood Real Estate, We Print Today, Campbell Smith Architects, Powder Point Sports and The Chef’s Table.
